I am Boston born and then moved to Fredericksburg, VA when I was 8.  In high school I started weight training at 15 years old.  I fell in love with being fit.  I was always an active multi-sport athlete throughout my childhood but a chubby athlete.  I got tired of being chubby so I changed my ways.  My main sport became soccer and my position was goal keeper, which I absolutely loved.

I joined the Marine Corps at 18 after graduating high school.  I kept on the health and fitness wagon because, in my head as a Marine, being the best at it all meant staying in the best shape possible.  I decided to do an amateur bodybuilding competition when I was 21 which showed me how far I could push my body, and I found that very intriguing.

When I found CrossFit in October 2009 while stationed here aboard NAS Pensacola I was hooked! I was in the gym every day learning all I could so I could work hard to try to kill every workout.  I started coaching March 2010 then did my first CrossFit competition in summer 2010.  In 2010 it hit me that my life had changed, and CrossFit was the reason, and there was more tolife than just working for the USMC.

I wanted to pursue this new found life style of CrossFit and teach people the greatness of fitness and a healthy lifestyle.  I felt like the puzzle piece that was missing from my fitness regimen was finally fulfilled in every way.  So in August of 2012 I parted ways with the USMC and moved to Columbus, GA to manage and later partially own a CrossFit gym there.  Early 2015 my heart was still here in Pensacola, so I found a wonderful business partner/fiancé Fallon and we moved here to the panhandle to start our own box – CrossFit VU!

I have been coaching since 2010, competing at an elite level since 2010 as well. I have over 15 years experience in fitness, over 10 of instructing fitness, as well as, constantly working on personal and professional development with coaching athletes and nutritional guidance.

When you come to our gym, and to me as a Coach, I will always be straight forward and honest with you. I want nothing but the best for you and for you to achieve every goal you have. That comes with heart felt constructive criticism. I truly believe in P.H.D., Passion, Hardwork, and Dedication from me to you and you to me and together we will all succeed and become stronger!

I’ve always had an affinity for living a healthy lifestyle and have always found ways to be active. I was blessed enough to grow up dancing and playing the piano. Then, I began moving a lot, so I was only able to dabble in soccer, volleyball, basketball, but no matter what it was, I always enjoyed moving and doing something over being bored.

CrossFit found me at the very end of 2012 and I was able to begin consistently going in January of 2013. As you always hear, I LOVED it. I loved the camaraderie, lifting weights, handstands, even my weaknesses of longer metcons. My body began changing, I was getting stronger, leaner, happier, healthier, and I was making the best friends a girl could ask for! I really took to the weightlifting aspect, and became a sponge, soaking up every bit of knowledge I could from my coaches. I listened, retained, and became the ‘go to’ girl in my gym for the other girls. I absolutely loved helping anyone and everyone that would ask, and realized it was time to get my Level 1.

At age 18, I decided that I didn’t want to eat fastfood at all because I never wanted that to be a reason that I was unhealthy when I was 40. Of course, now 40 is so young, but at 18 it seemed like an older age. With that new, “I’m going to be healthy” mindset, came a lot of mistakes and misunderstanding about what food is actually healthy, and I spent many years doing the wrong things that I thought were right. One of them, not eating enough, and at times, as most have experienced, overeating. Once I started CrossFit I began learning about eating Real Food (none of this atkins and low carb diets anymore) – and since then I have delved into the lifestyle full force. Not to say I still don’t indulge, but I love healthy eating, and I love helping others find their way to healthier options in conjunction with being an Owner and Coach!

If you’re looking for a female coach, here I am! I am versed in CF and Nutrition and I can’t wait to help you, in whatever aspect you need!

Crossfit found me in 2008 on a trip back home to San Diego.  My life has never been the same since.  I believe passionately in functional fitness and the life-changing benefits it has within it for everybody.  Yes, I said everybody.  It doesn’t matter if you are 8 or 88, and even beyond, the fact that CrossFit can be scaled down and keep intensity up makes it perfect for everyone.I am a firm believer that functional fitness does transfer over into every walk of life.  Whether you play golf, football or tennis.  Maybe you are a nurse, electrician or you sit at a desk.
I was a commercial fisherman in Alaska and worked for Costco Wholesale before that.  Functional movement/fitness is in our everyday walk of life.  It will help you overcome self-doubt and limitation stopping you from reaching you full potential!  You must only be willing to do the work.  Remember, the greatest things in life are earned not given. I love working with each individual I meet!

“CrossFit has helped me get into the best shape of my life.  CrossFit has made me believe in myself. WOD’s that looked impossible I would accomplish one rep at a time. CrossFit has given me confidence to believe in myself, that if I work hard I can accomplish anything I put my mind and body to. I’ve learned the word “can’t” should never be spoken at CrossFit, as can’t is limiting and I’ve proven to myself that I can, maybe not today or tomorrow but eventually I will be able to succeed at the next CrossFit goal. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and helping others reach their fitness potential at CrossFit VU!”

I have had the pleasure of traveling to many different countries and experiencing a variety of other cultures, but I was born and raised on the Gulf Coast, and Pensacola, Florida will always be home base to me. I am currently finishing my undergraduate studies at the University of West Florida and will soon receive my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Science. Growing up in a house full of athletes, I have always had a passion for living an “active lifestyle.” I have participated in many sports, boot-camps, yoga classes, and other group-fitness style classes. However, nothing compares to the first time I ever completed a CrossFit “WOD.” I was hooked.

My first WOD was a ‘MetCon’ that consisted of rowing, squatting, and box jumps. Aside from the fact that it was one of the most intense workouts of my life, I was encouraged and motivated by the other athletes to keep going, and felt a sense of camaraderie that I have never found in any other fitness environment. Ever since that day, I have developed a passion for the variance, intensity, and functional characteristics that are found in the model of CrossFit and the community that comes along with it.

On my own personal fitness journey, I have found that with passion, hard work, and a commitment to becoming stronger than yesterday, I can accomplish anything I desire. I am currently a Level 1 CrossFit Trainer, and I am hungry to continue growing and learning all that I can so that I can be the best coach that I am capable of being. My goals as a coach are not only to coach athletes through movements in a safe and efficient manner, but also to inspire people of all ages and fitness levels to work hard in becoming the healthiest and strongest versions of themselves, and to reach past the limits that they think their bodies can reach.

I was born in Pensacola, have lived in the Philippines, and relocated back to Pensacola after my father retired from being in the United Stated Navy for 30 years. I obtained an Associates of Applied Science in Graphic Design Technology from Pensacola State College in 2005. I continued to pursue an education in art in Atlanta, GA and moved on to Nashville, TN to start a tattoo apprenticeship in late 2006. I moved back to Pensacola in early 2008 to work at Hula Moon Tattoo.

I had my first CrossFit experience in 2011 with a brutal Tabata workout. The thing I enjoy most about doing CrossFit is its ability to build an individual’s character. We must allow ourselves to go through challenges and to be pushed to the limit. CrossFit has helped me build my confidence, find out what I’m capable of achieving and, most importantly, it has allowed me to stay healthy and fit, therefore, changing my life. I also love the community it cultivates. It’s great knowing you aren’t alone in your struggles and triumphs. I love learning the correct way to move and to watch the improvement in my athletes. When we go through adversity in life, it requires us to make a decision to change. CrossFit helps me assess situations, decide on how to execute the task at hand. It also helps me to grow stronger, to be more efficient, and to have the courage to take on the next obstacle.

Move safely and correctly… Then keep moving!!!
