Jan 1 of 2016 was my first day of “Drinking the Koolaid.” So I suppose I have been a CrossFitter for a little over 3 years. I’m a nurse practitioner my specialties are Endocrinology and Urgent Care/Occupational Health. But I have also specialized in Nutrition and helping others with it. Through my journey of fitness + weight loss I have learned so much about it. So I got my level 1 and then did my Precision Nutrition certification. I specialize in making people healthy!

Nutrition and helping others. I found CrossFit at a point in my life where I had tried every fad diet out there and every type of pill/tea/detox with no success. My weight had fluctuated up and down for years, mostly increasing. Once I found CrossFit and started learning more about how much nutrition plays in to your day to day life, I felt like I had found my niche. It even plays in to my full time job, where I spend the majority of the time with my patients educating them on nutrition. I am a firm believer that performance starts in the kitchen.

I’m still a little new to coaching, but I love being able to give a member a cue and seeing the “click” in their brain to perform a movement correctly. Every day I coach I learn something new to help someone else. Elementary through high school I was a gymnast. However, nursing school caused all of that to come to an end, since I didn’t really have time for anything but school. Once out of school, I continued to not really workout consistently until I found CrossFit VU.

After working out at CrossFit VU for a little over a year, I have come so far and learned so much from my coaches and wanted to be able to give back to other people at the gym. I knew around that time that I wanted to eventually coach. Around the 2 year mark, I felt like I knew enough to take the Level 1 course. My goal with coaching is to help the members to move safely and effectively, but also I want them to realize that they can push themselves to do so much more than they ever imagined when they first walked through the doors. My favorite quote is from Ben Bergeron

“Like everything else, excellence is a habit.”

I’m married to a wonderful husband, a step-son who also shares my love for Crossfit (off and on), and 3 fluffy fur babies that I love to spoil rotten.
